Biographie

Sous-entité du groupe NCT, le groupe sud-coréen de k-pop NCT 127 connaît le succès dès ses débuts en 2016 avec l'EP NCT #127 qui se classe numéro un en Corée du Sud. Composé à l'origine de sept chanteurs et danseurs, NCT 127 poursuit en 2017 avec deux autres EP toujours plébiscités par le public, Limitless et Cherry Bomb, classés respectivement n°1 et n°2 en Corée du Sud. Sorti en 2018, Chain est le premier EP destiné au marché japonais, où le groupe connaît également un vaste succès. L'album Regular-Irregular sorti en octobre 2018 devient à son tour numéro un en Corée du Sud et fait même une apparition dans le Billboard américain à la 86e place. Entre-temps, NCT 127 est passé à neuf, puis dix membres en 2018 : Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark, Winwin et Haechan. Le groupe sort en avril 2019 l'album Awaken pour le marché japonais. Il se classe dans les charts locaux à la quatrième place. Le sixième EP de NCT 127, baptisé We Are Superhuman, confirme en mai 2019 l'émergence du groupe aux États-Unis avec une onzième place dans les charts. Les albums Neo Zone (2020) et Sticker (2021) confirment cette tendance avec une cinquième et une troisième place au Billboard, tandis qu'ils se classent numéro un en Corée du Sud. Le groupe maintient un rythme de production élevé avec un nouvel album dévoilé en 2022 : 2 Baddies, qui se classe deuxième dans son pays et troisième aux États-Unis. Il s'appuie sur la chanson-titre, choisie comme simple et classée n°8 en Corée du Sud.

NCT 127 are a K-pop band from Seoul, South Korea, formed as a subset of the band NCT by entertainment conglomerate SM Entertainment in 2016. The line-up varies but features mostly performers from South Korea with vocalists Moon Tae Il (Taeil), Lee Tae Yong (Taeyong), Lee Dong Hyuck (Haechan), Kim Dong Young (Doyoung), Jung Yoon Oh (Jaehyun), Kim Jung-woo (Jungwoo) and Dong Si Cheng (Winwin) from China and rappers Lee Min Hyung (Mark) from Canada, Seo Young Ho (Johnny) from America and Nakamoto Yuta (Yuta) from Japan.

Their debut EP 'NCT #127' (2016) went to number two on Billboard's World Albums chart and other EPs followed: 'Limitless' (2017) topped the chart, 'NCT #127 Cherry Bomb' (2017) peaked at number two and 'Chain' (2018) hit number eight. Their debut album, 'Regular-Irregular', also went to number two on the chart and 'NCT #127 Regulate: The 1st Album, Repackage' peaked at number nine. Their 2019 schedule was to include a North American tour with appearances at venues in cities including Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver.
