Biographie

Né en Turquie le 26 janvier 1988, le rappeur KC Rebell, de son vrai nom Hüseyin Kokseçen, grandit à Essen en Allemagne. Sa rencontre en 2006 avec PA Sports, également d'origine turque, mène à la formation du duo SAW et l'enregistrement d'une mixtape, suivie d'une tournée et de l'album Kinder des Zorns (2008). Un désaccord avec le label Shrazy Records conduit à la séparation du duo et à la création par PA Sports du label Life Is Pain, sous lequel paraît Derdo Derdo (2011), premier album de KC Rebell. L'année suivante, son successeur Rebellismus, pour le label Wolfpack, se classe n° 33 dans les charts allemands. En 2013, le rappeur désormais sous contrat avec Bangar Musik signe un succès d'ampleur avec l'album Banger Rebellieren, classé n° 2, tandis que les suivants, Rebellution (2014), Fata Morgana (2015) et Abstand (2016), atteignent la première place des ventes. Cependant, une brouille avec le rappeur Xatar se traduit par une réplique à travers le titre « Dizz da », que KC Rebell retire de sa chaîne YouTube en signe de réconciliation. En 2019, l'album Hasso publié par son propre label Rebell Army, rapporte à KC Rebell son premier titre classé n° 1, « DNA », en trio avec Summer Cem et Capital Bra, suivi par « Alleen » (n° 4). La collaboration entamée en 2017 avec Summer Cem sur l'album Maximum (n° 1), se poursuit trois ans plus tard avec Maximum III (n° 2), dont cinq extraits se classent dans les dix meilleures ventes. L'édition Maximum III++ qui suit un mois après apporte le nouveau hit « Down » (n° 5).

German rapper KC Rebell is one of the country's best known hip-hop artists. He was born Hüseyin Kökseçen in Turkey in 1988 and is of Kurdish descent. Kökseçen began his rap career along with fellow rapper PA Sports when the two men founded the duo SAW and released the album 'Children of Wrath'. Contractual issues with their label Shazy Records eventually led to a parting of ways and, after releasing one further single titled 'Cruel' in 2009 with PA Sports and Manuallsen, Kökseçen decided to go solo and signed for the rap label Life Is a Pain.

His first solo album was 'Derdo Derdo' released in 2011. 'Derdo Derdo' failed to make an impact on the charts although the follow up 'Rebellismus' spent a week at number 33 in the German album listings. It wasn't until a change of label to Banger Music that Kökseçen's fortunes began to change and he has since enjoyed a succession of number one albums.

Kökseçen has had a public feud with rapper Xatar and in typical rap style the two men have traded insults and released tracks detailing their hatred of one another. In 2016 events became more serious when Xatar was alleged to have been involved in the attempted murder of one of Kökseçen's friends. No charges were brought and the two men have retracted their previous insults.
