Biographie

De son vrai nom Nima Yaghobi, le rappeur allemand d’origine iranienne Nimo voit le jour le 25 décembre 1995 à Karlsruhe en Allemagne. Jeune délinquant, il effectue un séjour en prison dès l’adolescence mais se tourne ensuite vers le rap. Grâce aux réseaux sociaux, il attire l’attention du duo allemand Cela & Abdi, qui lui permet de se forger une expérience scénique en première partie de leur tournée. Sa première mixtape Habeebee sort en 2016. Ses textes crus relatant la vie dans la rue, le crime et la consommation de drogue deviennent l’une des marques de fabrique de son univers sombre, qui s’étend dès 2017 à un premier véritable album intitulé Kiki. Pour la première fois, grâce au simple « Heute mit Mir », il atteint le top 10 local (n° 10). Il s’associe ensuite avec Capo pour un album en duo intitulé Capimo, qui abrite notamment le simple « Mon Chéri » et se hisse à la neuvième place des charts allemands. La même année, Nimo consolide sa discographie solo avec l’album Nimoriginal (2019), puis se distingue par de nombreux tubes, parmi lesquels « Kein Schlaf », son premier numéro 1, mais aussi en 2020 « Kommunikation » (n° 6), puis en 2021 « Bad Eyez » (n° 5) et « Zart » (n° 18).

The German rap artist Nimo was born Nima Yaghobi in Karlsruhe in 1995 and, following a troubled childhood which involved crime and drug abuse, was eventually incarcerated in a juvenile detention facility for a range of offences including extortion. Whilst serving his sentence he met the rapper Samy who helped Nimo find his voice as a rapper and helped set him on an alternative lifestyle. His previous life of crime and drug abuse provided Nimo with a rich seam of inspiration for his rap material and his songs feature many references to his life on the streets.

Following his release the rapper began posting new material on Facebook and came to the attention of the Frankfurt based rap duo Celo and Abdi. Contact was established and Nimo was invited to tour with the duo and the resulting exposure launched him as an up-and-coming talent in the German hip-hop scene. He went on to become the recipient of multiple music industry awards and his debut studio album 'KjKj' reached number four and spent 16 weeks in the German charts.
