The Modern Lovers

Biographie

Formé autour du compositeur, guitariste et chanteur Jonathan Richman, The Modern Lovers accorde son rock garage à la personnalité candide de son auteur. Une première mouture accouche de The Modern Lovers (1976) faisant depuis l'objet d'un véritable culte (« Roadrunner », « Pablo Picasso »). En 1977, une autre formation est à l'oeuvre sur Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers et Rock'N'Roll With the Modern Lovers (« Egyptian Reggae »). Le groupe de Boston est rappelé entre deux albums solo de son leader, pour It's Time for Jonathan Richman (1986) et Modern Lovers 88. En 1998 sort Live at the Long Branch & More, datant de la grande époque des années 1970.
